About this Event

Ascension Eagles Cheerleaders is a charity based in Newham, East London dedicated to transforming the lives of young people since 1997. AEC is recognised as one of the UK’s most successful youth programs, as well as one of Britain’s best all-round cheer programmes. AEC has members from ages 6 to 20 competing in team competitions across the UK and winning trophies in many categories.

The AEC’s managing director Angela Green joined AEC as a cheerleader at age 14, has been a coach for 22 years and became MD in 2008. For the last three years she has co-managed and co-coached the English National team for the ICU Cheerleading World Championships winning Gold in April 2017 and 2018. During the 2012 Olympic Games Angela coordinated all of the cheerleading performances across Basketball, Volleyball & Handball. In 2011, Angela was recognised by the Queen at Buckingham Palace for services to young people.

Join us to see and hear more about Ascension Eagles, the young athletes who are AEC cheerleaders, highlights of some of their performances, establishment of a Junior Leadership Team for teens, and some of the challenges that AEC has faced over the past six months in engaging young people and running a team-based athletic charity virtually.

Presenters will be: Angela Green, Managing Director of AEC; Sue Winston, Chair of the Board of Trustees; and Susan Spiller, Trustee (GSB'91)
